Class Info
Austin Self Defense Classes:
Our Austin self-defense classes are held Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at Fighting Fit Boot Camp of Austin, 14735 Bratton Lane, Suite 285, Austin, TX 78728.
I am also available for self-defense lectures, presentations, and workshops. Feel free to contact me for more information or to book a presentation or workshop.
Tuition Rate - $150/month for self-defense classes only, plus a $25 one-time registration fee due at first class (it helps pay for wear and tear on our striking pads and other equipment we provide – it gets beat up and it’s expensive to replace)
Other Class Information:
Location - Fighting Fit Boot Camp of Austin, 14735 Bratton Lane, Suite 285, Austin, TX 78728. Click here for a map (opens in a new window).
Apparel - Class apparel is a school t-shirt (our school, that is; nothing against UT or anything but burnt orange clashes with our color scheme) and black shorts (long shorts – like the MMA shorts you’ve seen on TV – no tights or shorts that don’t reach at least mid-thigh). School T-shirts are $12 and can be ordered your first class.
Other equipment you will need on your first night:
Guys will need a groin cup in order to train. Everyone needs a mouthpiece – we recommend going to Wal-Mart or Academy and getting the $7-$10 Shock Doctor. The cheap $1 mouth guards aren’t even worth using, so spend a few extra bucks on a decent guard.
Racquetball goggles are also used in some of our drills for safety purposes, but you don’t need them right away. If you want to buy a pair for your first night, great. You can usually find them for less than $5. FYI they scratch up easily in a gear bag, so keep them wrapped in a towel or soft cloth and they’ll last longer.
Eventually, you are also going to need to purchase the following through the school:
- Boxing gloves
- Shin guards
- MMA gloves
- Boxing head gear
Why do you need to order from us? For one, most of the stuff you see for sale at the local sporting goods stores is junk. If they could sell worse gear and not deal with constant returns, believe me they would.
We source our gear from a reputable company that has been around a long time. We know the owners and they provide us with great deals for our students. So, ordering through us ensures you get the best gear at the best price.
Plus, we won’t allow potentially unsafe gear in class. Even if you have your own, you still have to get new gear through us. Them’s the rules, no exceptions.
