Regular ongoing training courses are taught in a group setting, or in private instruction either at our facility or at the student’s location.

About Our Classes…

Self defense classes in Austin TXOur core curriculum consists of the Level I Self Defense Program, which addresses empty-hand self-defense skills versus the most common attack scenarios. This in and of itself is a very comprehensive program, and far exceeds what is taught in the typical martial art school’s curriculum from white belt to black belt.

In the Level I Self Defense Program, students are trained to be well-rounded and develop a base proficiency in boxing, kickboxing, unorthodox striking methods, practical locks and throws, practical trapping, sweeps, trips, takedowns, and ground grappling as it relates to getting off the ground. (Note: Our tactical doctrine focuses on staying mobile and getting back to your feet if you should end up on the ground. If you’re interested in learning lots of ground grappling, we would suggest training at one of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools in Austin, such as the Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy in South Austin.)

Much of this training is based on skills development versus a resisting opponent, and using as many training methods as possible. This ensures the student learns and develops skills they can actually use, in a relatively short period of time (months in our classes versus years in traditional programs).

After students have learned the Level I material (typically within 6 – 12 months), they may then progress to the Level II Self Defense Program. Level II deals with empty hand responses versus blunt and edged weapons and also serves as an introduction to using blunt and edged weapons for self defense. Once again, this level of the curriculum can be learned within a 6 – 12 month time frame.

The Level III Self Defense Program is the last stage of the core empty hand curriculum. This stage of training addresses “worst-case scenario” training, including:

  • Last Resort Defenses versus Firearms,
  • Car Jackings,
  • Home Invasion,
  • and Multiple Opponent Scenarios

Classes meet a few times each week, whether in a group or private setting.
